Adulting is hard work. But good resources make all the difference. If you are frustrated and overwhelmed and think you can’t do it on your own, I have good news for you! You aren’t on your own.
First, why is it so important to track your spending, and have all the information in one, easy-to-read place? Well, if you were going on a diet, you would want to track what your body is spending and receiving in the way of calories, right? I am willing to bet that you have at least one app on your phone that tracks calories, workouts, or both (even better!). Because resources fuel results. Because knowledge is power. All those things. So when you want to put your money on a diet, you can either make it up as you go along, or you can utilize good resources to make a solid plan.

I got so frustrated trying to find good, customizable resources for budgeting and tracking spending. When I couldn’t find what I exactly was looking for on Pinterest I turned to the built-in Excel templates. The simple ones don’t seem to get the job done, and the more sophisticated ones are impossible to customize, especially if you don’t speak Microsoft. Either way, they all leave you essentially starting from scratch every month, with no easy way to carry over your information.
Well, I’ve solved the problem for you. I spent some time reading up on Excel formulas, searching all the templates for the best parts, and piecing together an incredibly user-friendly budget and spending tracker, all in one handy-dandy sheet. I then used it myself for a few months, passed it to a few family members for testing, and got all the kinks worked out for you. You’re welcome! There is a fillable, Excel version, or a printable, if you like pen and ink. I prefer to let the computer do the math for me, but it is up to you!
